New Dining Room and Valances

Hello Everyone.

With taking down Christmas Decor everything seemed so stark.
I made this old vintage tile vase into door decor.
Added some faux flowers and nest and ribbon.  Much more cheerful than a plan door.

When we went to Michigan I found an old black  drop leaf table with the cutest legs and wheels.

I am not a fan of drop leaf but loved the legs and wheels.
Searching out a new rug for the living room to bring in a little more blue to this room.

Terry found some wood to make new sides to the table and framed it out with the legs.

Then we found some old white planks for the table top.  He router
the edges and whoo hoo new table.
Rectangle fits so much better in this small sq. space than the round table.

The round table jetted out into the room too much.

Shana from Asmus Home Interiors that made my pretty drapery panels just finished these valances for my windows.
I did not want to see the pole so she accommodated me once again and made these pretty valances.

You know how I like to give a shout out to women in business.
We girls have to help each other out.

Here is Shana's Etsy Site Asmus Home Interiors once again if any of you need drapes or pillows etc.
You can send her your fabric or you can pick from the wonderful variety of fabrics she offers.

She is quick and her sewing superb.
One more sweet little piece I have in my bay window area.
I spruced up my angel and bird bath in there with some blue and white flowers.
I just love to surround myself with angels and flowers.  No better combination.
That sweet angel was gifted to me from a very good friend.

She is holding a heart and this piece is so dear to me.
The friend that gifted this to me just finished up her breast cancer journey and is cancer free.  Prayers were answered.

Have a great Weekend.
I will have a living room reveal in my next post with a giveaway.
See you soon.
Girlfriend Party this Saturday.
WooHoo!
Hugs,
Kris

Kitchen Re Do

Hello Everyone.

I was trying to wait for a day of sunshine to show off my new counters but not sure when we will see another day with sunshine.  So please know these counters looks so much better than in pictures.

Ugh for gloomy winter days.

With the counter tops being granite I really did not want to take them out.

I did a little research and found a paint process that you can do to make color changes to your granite.

You can see above how they came out.  Bright and pretty.

The problem was this did not hold up.
We did them in September and they started to peel and chip everywhere.

With this kitchen being small we decided to go back to butcher block for the counter tops.

We have had butcher block in the past houses and loved it.

We were able to find a 12 foot piece in stock at Lumber Liquidators so we would not have any seams.

I liked that the counters match up to the floor.

I think the butcher block with white cabinets is always a bright and pretty look.

I was able to get a new Kohler cast iron sink to replace the other cracked one.
I am working on something cool for the window over the sink and hope to have that done soon.

We also put a piece of butcher block over at the coffee station.

Terry bought me this vintage cedar chest for Christmas.

It has landed in this space in my kitchen for now.

I have a little more storage.

I still have my old french window hanger.

We added the chippy porch post and old post mail box to the wall.

I love my new counter tops.  Low maintenance and they give a better vibe to my kitchen.

Gosh just wish I could really capture how pretty they are in this kitchen.

Have a great new week.
Hugs,
Kris

Layers of sliced potatoes and Arborio Rice, flavored with torn, peeled tomatoes, sliced onion, garlic, chopped, fresh picked italian parsley, Pecorino Romano Cheese, EVOO, S&P and, fresh from the Adriatic Sea, (or fresh from whichever sea you can get them Black Mussels layered between the above delicious ingredients. Italian, comfort food goodness!
